The former president and vice president of the World Weightlifting Federation has been banned from sports for life.
Tamash Ayan, the former president of the World Weightlifting Federation (IWF), was banned from sports for life by the CAS court, according to Varzesh Seh.
Romanian Niko Vlad, who was vice-president and chairman of the technical committee of the World Weightlifting Federation, was also sentenced to life in prison by the court.
The bans followed a request from the International Testing Agency (ITA) on behalf of the IWF to the CAS court.
According to the CAS court, they were accused of violating anti-doping laws against several weightlifters over the years, manipulating the doping control process and concealing the weightlifters’ positive tests.
According to Inside the games, this court has recognized the life sentence of these two people as an appropriate punishment.
